Domestic Marijuana Eradication
The DME Program is a federally funded system which directly supports local, state, and county law enforcement agencies in the detection, dismantling and eradication of domestically grown marijuana. The DME Program is jointly administered by the United States Drug Enforcement Administration’s Domestic Cannabis Eradication/Suppression Program (DCE/SP), the Office of Agricultural Law Enforcement and the Florida National Guard. The program has been operational for over 20 years and has resulted in the detection of over 24,000 illegal grow sites, eradication of more than 2 million marijuana plants valued in excess of $2.9 billion, and the arrest of over 9,100 cultivators in Florida. The Office of Agricultural Law Enforcement joined this program in 2005 and has been responsible for the coordination of all outdoor grow investigations in Florida. Effective January 2008, the Office of Agricultural Law Enforcement assumed responsibility for administering the indoor grow program, previously administered by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
